As the main economic process,the accounting follows the existing and movements of the company’s assets in order to better reflect the company's financial condition and performance.

By its specific methods, the accounting assures several functiones of main importance for the managers:

  1. Inform function - The information reffers to structure, the dinamics of the assets , results, all these being necessary in fundamenting the managerial decizions
  2. Control Function - Using accounting data to verify the existence and use of resources
  3. Judicial function - the accounting data are used as evidence in court to prove the reality of the operations or to establish liability or solve disputes.

Starting January 1, 1994, the Romanian accounting is held in double circuit, the companies having the legal obligation to organize:

  • Financial Accounting (or external), for the purpose of registration of property transactions in order to provide a complete and accurate image of the company.
  • Management Accounting (or international), in order to determine the calculation of production costs and profitability of products, works, services.
